Amiens Racecourse (Hippodrome d’Amiens)

The racecourse was established in 1850, in which gallop races commenced since the establishment of the track, while trotting races only began in 1870. It was originally located on the current parking lot and had wooden stands, and then the present racecourse was inaugurated in 1968. It is called “the Petit Vincennes de Picardie” because of its “running” at night, trotting and galloping during its 26 annual meetings, located west of the Somme prefecture, on the edge of the Licorne stadium and the Amiens Zénith, in the heart of the city. It is also classified as a Regional Pole, enabling it to host major races such as national and international PMU races.

In 1966, a major redevelopment and renovation plan was designed for modernization, where the new track, stands, restaurant, and track lighting were built. Then in 1968, the racecourse had a complete reconstruction.
