The Queen Elizabeth II
The QE II has always been one of my favorite races. Even before it was thought of as a Breeders’ Cup filly and mare Turf prep. This year we have a competitive field of 10.
Pin Up Betty has gotten better since switched to the grass. That said, this good I don’t think so. She would be a surprise.
Caitlinhergrtness is one for one on the turf and has as much upside as any of the gals in here. She is the Queens Plate winner against males on synthetic at Woodbine and while a bit slower than a few of these, she is improving. She should also sit a nice trip, and I give her a real chance at what should be a bigger price than the other contenders I see. Of course, Frankie helps.
She Feels Pretty is the likely favorite and is a nice filly who can win this. She also projects a nice trip, and the only knock is the price. She is not all that much better than these and will take the lion’s share of the money.
Waves of Mischief is getting better but a few in here look like they are ahead of this one to me. Impossible no, but I will say prove it to me.
Soprano is a quality import who has been competitive at even the Group 1 level overseas. The course and distance should not pose a problem, and she is a contender although I like others more.
Oversubscribed is from the Chad barn and you can never count them out in any Grade 1 stake. This is an improving well-bred filly who is extremely dangerous in this spot.
Buchu is two for two on this course and that counts but she looks a cut below these to me. I must pass in this field.
Pounce is capable of a nice race when in the mood and gets the trip. She is also versatile. I would not be shocked to see her run well, but I like several others more.
Grayosh is improving and game, but I like Chad’s other horse a bit more. Prat will have her in the right spot and that will help but I lean to others. That said she would be no surprise, and she did beat the likely favorite last out.
Candala is another quality import. This Frankel filly is a contender and of the two Euros I like her a tad better.
For me it came down to Caitlinhergrtness and Oversubscribed. In what was a tough call I went to Chad’s horse and the way he brings them to big races had plenty of say in that. I also think she will like the longer distance she gets here.
Enjoy the races and win the photos!
