TRU Odds
TRU Odds is a feature developed by AmWager to help show you a horse’s projected final odds. You can use this to compare to current odds which will give you some insight into the overlays and underlays computer wagering teams look for and help you better determine what your actual payoffs may be better than the currently shown live odds.
TRU Odds is calculated using a proprietary algorithm developed by AmWager that takes into account the prior races Double Pool, Pick Pool willpays along with current race Win, Double and Exacta pools. Pools are recalculated including takeout calculations and weighted before being aggregated into a single factor. TRU Odds is recalculated on every tote cycle in real time.
Here is an example of how TRU Odds can be used. Let’s say you are looking at a race where the current odds for the favorite are 3-1. The TRU Odds for the favorite are 5-2. This means that the algorithm believes that the favorite is actually more likely to win than the current odds suggest. This could be a sign of an overlay, which is a situation where a horse is being offered at lower odds than its true value.
On the other hand, let’s say you are looking at a race where the current odds for the longshot are 100-1. The TRU Odds for the longshot are 20-1. This means that the algorithm believes that the longshot is actually less likely to win than the current odds suggest. This could be a sign of an underlay, which is a situation where a horse is being offered at higher odds than its true value.
