Hippodrome de Cholet
Hippodrome de Cholet is a horse-racing track in Cholet, Maine-et-Loire, France. It opened in 1852, at Avenue de l’Hippodrome, Route du Puy St Bonnet.
History
The track was founded in 1852, while the pari-mutuel was born in1892. In 1910, the meetings were even major popular festivals. Following the development of aeronautics and the construction of a hard landing strip, the racecourse moved again in 1961. It is situated in Avenue de l’Hippodrome, Route du Puy St Bonnet, 49300 Cholet, France. The 1st category racecourse is managed by the Société des Courses Hippiques de Cholet. The racing program is chosen by France Galop (for gallop races) and the SECF (for trotting races).
Track Details
It consists of 2 tracks (trotting and galloping) and equestrian structures with hitching, dressage, and obstacle competitions. The three disciplines are represented with flat races and obstacles (hurdles) on a grass track and trotting on a sand track.
A 32-hectare racetrack located in the Loire valley, in north-western France, including 5 ha of slopes. It has one warm-up round, 1 round of presentation, and one sand trotting track measuring 1255 m long, 17 to 24 m wide, with 20 riders mounted trotting and 18 starters in harnessed trot. On the other hand, the grass gallop track is 1613 m long with rope on the right, 22 m wide, with 16 starters and removable obstacles (hurdles).
The racecourse can accommodate 5,000 people, with a covered grandstand, a discovery platform, a covered reception hall, a PMH counter, 1 PMU counter, and fast food. The parking capacity is 3,000 cars, 20 reserved for people with reduced mobility. The fairgrounds also offer toys and sweets. The jockeys wear helmets in the colors of the stables.
