Riverton Racecourse
Riverton Racecourse is a horse-racing track in Riverton-Wallacetown Highway, Riverton/Aparima, Southland, New Zealand.
History
Early records show racing in the area started in 1861. The racecourse is situated at State Highway 99 Riverton, South Island 9883 New Zealand, 25 minutes drive southwest of Invercargill, in Riverton, South Island, New Zealand. Guests can easily locate the racecourse because of its four grandstands with Orange roofs which can be seen many kilometers before.
Track Details
It is home to the Riverton Racing Club. It hosts the Great Western Steeplechase, a famous Easter Carnival which is nationally recognized as one of the highlights of the racing season in the South Island. Other featured races are Riverton Cup, Fillies & Mares 1600m, Gallop South Derby, and PGG Wrightson Southern Champion Hack. Its home can accommodate 5000 guests.
