Gore Racecourse
Gore Racecourse is a horse-racing track in Gore-Mataura Highway, East Gore, Charlton, New Zealand.
History
It is situated at the Main South Road Gore, South Island 9710, New Zealand, and 1.5 km south of Gore township on the Gore-Mataura Highway. Gore is also the Country Music Capital of New Zealand and hosts the “Gold Guitar Awards” during the week leading to Queens Birthday weekend each year and is attended by participants from throughout Australasia.
Gore Racecourse has 53 hectares of freehold land, providing racing facilities and a training center. Some club races at Gore are (1) Gore R.C., established in 1889 and holds four meetings a year at the Gore Racecourse, two of which are in June and one in both September and May, featuring the Liquorland Gore Guineas; (2) the Tapanui R.C., which races once a year in December at Wingatui Racecourse in Dunedin featuring the meeting Gore Christmas at the Races; and (3) Wyndham R.C. with featured meeting Wyndham Cup Day.
