Another Super Saturday

This will be one of the last if not the last Super Saturdays prior to the Breeders’ Cup. There will be some nice cards at Keeneland but on Saturday we have some nice racing all over the place. I’ll pick a few spots and see how it goes.

The Woodward at Aqueduct looks like it is the perfect pace advantage race for Skippylongstocking. He should be setting his own pace at just about whatever speed Manny Franco wants. That said there is an interesting horse in there even if he is at a significant pace disadvantage. Crupi likes to come from way back, but it is worth noting he made up good ground last out over a sealed track that was harrowed and sealed right before the Whitney was run. That surely aided Arthur’s Ride who I liked that day and worked against Crupi. The last race on the card also run after the track was sealed was wire to wire as was Arthur’s Ride. Crupi should be sitting on a big effort. Pace wise he is up against it but the above is worth noting and watching. I may take a chance.

In the Turf Classic I look for Dylan Davis to implore different tactics than Flavien Prat did last time with Silver Knott. Far Bridge was literally handed the race by both Godolphin runners that day and I do not believe that will happen again. I look for Silver Knott to bounce back in a big way and handle these. I do not think he needs the lead at all and this pace set up is completely different than last out. I believe the last race will help him here.

In the Vosburgh I lean to Scotland. He really put it together last out and I think he is coming into this race the right way. He is probably a better sprinter than router and he should be able to run back to that last race. If he does, he should be right smack in this.

In the John Henry at Santa Anita, I like Divin Propos. He should sit a perfect pocket trip, and he can kick when asked. He likes this course, and I think he will be in perfect position to move at the right time. He looks to be improving and there are not many in here who can say that.

Johnny Podres should appreciate getting back to six and a half down the hill after going 5 furlongs twice at Del Mar. He has won at this trip before, and he should be finishing as fast as any in here when it counts.

I don’t know if Senor Buscador is good enough to win the Cal Cup but I do know that last race at 7 furlongs was likely a tune up for this and on his best day he can run with these. He will get a nice pace set up to run at but these are some quality routers that won’t really come back to him. He will have to step up and run them down. At a big price and under the radar he could be worth a look.

Let’s see if we can pad the bankroll a bit as we get closer to the big dance.
