It is owned by Horse Racing Ireland and is acknowledged as one of the fastest-growing racetracks in the country. It is also is one of the best maintained in the country and now one of the most modern venues in the country. Moreover, it is also one of Ireland’s premier National Hunt tracks and is considered the ultimate test for National Hunt racing in Ireland.
Track Details
Its course stages Flat racing but is best known for National Hunt racing. For National Hunt (NH) Racing, both manage hurdle and steeplechase racing. The steeplechase circuit of the track is composed of nine fences, seven plain fences, and two ditches, by which one is on each narrow end of the loop. There is a total of 17 fences to be jumped. The ‘chases’ are started with a tape barrier and are run over distances from two to three miles.
On the other hand, the hurdle track is run to the inner of the chase track, and hurdles can be moved slightly for each race meeting. There is a total of seven flights to be jumped on the hurdle circuit. Hurdle races are also run over distances from two to three miles.
The other one is Flat Racing, which is the second code of racing, and as the name suggests, horses compete on the flat without any jumps. There is a greater range of distances in flat racing, from sharp sprints over five furlongs to stamina tests over two and a half furlongs.
It also offers a fully licensed bar and restaurant, corporate client entertainment, Sponsorship packages, and 18 holes, 72 par golf course. It has Bective Restaurant, Private Suites, Troytown Bar, Kilberry Restaurant, The Arkle Pavilion, Big Zeb’s Kids Room & Outdoor Play Area, Racecourse Café, and Ladbrokes Betting Shop.
