Durbanville Racecourse
History
The Durbanville Racecourse is a horse racing track and one of only two race courses in the Western Cape, located in Durbanville, in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, situated right next to the Durbanville Nature Reserve. Recognized and famous for its relaxing atmosphere and its 2000m oval course. Aside from hosting horse racing events, the facilities at the horse racing club are also available for hire for events such as weddings, parties, and more. The main function venue can accommodate 120 seats with a braai area, a bar, and kitchen facilities.
Track Details
It is a left-handed 2000m near the oval course, with a run-in of 600m and no straight course. The home straight is a downward slope almost until the finish. Moreover, it also has drainage, appropriate for winter racing. It is home to the Diana Stakes, a Grade 3 sprint for fillies and mares, usually held in October, and home to the World Sports Betting Matchem Stakes.
