Hippodrome De Nantes
History
It is also called Hippodrome Du Petit Port or Petit Port Racecourse. The founder of the racetrack is Société des courses de Nantes, which was founded in 1834. On the other hand, the racecourse was inaugurated in 1875. In 1920, the track began to organize six horse-racing meetings, namely four in spring and two in autumn. After two years, the grandstands were established in 1972 that can accommodate 5,000 people.
It is in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, France, in the Nantes Nord district, 4 km from the city center and 2 hours and 30 mins from Bordeaux towards Nantes-Hippodrome. The Nantes racecourse is also called “Petit Port racecourse” and remained one of the deans of France. It also hosts events aside from horse racing such as puppy show in September, jazz concerts in December, business seminars.
Track Details
The tack covers 35 hectares, with a capacity of 5000 seats and a parking space for 1,500 places. The track for trotting has a rope on the left, a sand track with 1411 meters distance, and a straight line of 350 meters. The starting areas are 2275m and 3000m. The gallop track also has a rope on the left. The surface is grass with a height of 12cm. The distance is 2068 meters with a straight line of 400 meters. The course measures 1100m, 1400m, 1600m, 2200m, 2400m, 3100m, and 3700m. The Hedge track also has a rope on the left and a grass track with a grass height of 12cm. The starting areas are 3100m, 3500m, and 3900m. Lastly, for steeplechase track, it also has a rope on the left and a grass track with a height of the grass of 12cm. The starting areas are 3800m and 4300m. It offers a 600 m² panoramic restaurant with a capacity of 350 persons and three bar areas (brasserie, restaurant, and bar owners) open from the opening of the meeting.
